PROTECTED DESIGNATION OF ORIGIN

The red and yellow PDO logo on the packaging provides consumers with proof of the origin of the lentils.

The PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) certifies the origin of the lentil. The yellow and red PDO logo affixed to the packages of Green PUY Lentils attests to theorigin and quality of the product

In 1996, the Green PUY Lentil was the first vegetable to obtain an Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC). Since 2008, our Vellave pearl has been internationally recognized with the European PDO

This PDO confers to the lentil a protection throughout Europe, and to the consumer the assurance of benefiting from an exceptional product whose gastronomic qualities come from its soil of origin.

Producers, collection, sorting and packaging companies are committed to respecting strict specifications.

Thus, the use of synthetic fertilizers is strictly forbidden. Humidity and storage conditions are monitored. An organoleptic examination of the lentils ready for sale, conducted by a panel of experts, allows to verify the quality of the marketable production.

During all these stages, rigorous controls are carried out by the Organisme de Défense et de Gestion of the appellation, but also by an independent certifying body, in order to guarantee the respect of the specifications.
