Since 1979, the CILVERPUY ( Interprofessional Committee of the Green Puy Lentil) has been working towards the development of the pearl of the Haute-Loire.

The CILVERPUY is composed of all the players in the sector who want to propose a product of irreproachable quality: the growers’ group, 2 packaging industrialists, farming associations and the local authorities concerned.

One statistic sums up the quality of this approach: In 1979 the Green Puy Lentil was moribund. In 2000, 83,000 quintals were produced by 1250 farmers on 3250 ha!
The CILVERPUY is a guarantee of the sector ‘s sustained development and of an irreproachable product for the consumer. It is the CILVERPUY that signed the specifications with the INAO for the A.O.C.

The 2 packets of Green PUY Lentils of the CILVERPUY member companies (AGRICEL, SABAROT WASSNER SA), have to be chosen by the consumer. For these 3 companies with the growers’ group, create the balance of a sector that is widely quoted as an example throughout the whole of France.

   
 
   
  The growers’ group, composed of the large majority of farmers growing the Green PUY Lentils, is in charge of the technical aspect of the sector. It manages the A.O.C. and informs every grower member of the operations to be implemented to supply each year a product that complies with the specifications.
